Wood Ear Mushroom
Wood Ear Mushrooms have a brown to dark brown color, while still young they can often take on the color of the tree they grown on. While aging, the skin color grows darker. They have almost no stem, light gills and a thick, spongy, curly cap. Their texture is crunchy and they don’t carry a large flavor profile.
Wood Ear Mushrooms have recently become a chef’s favorite due to their crunchy, slippery texture while not overpowering the dish.
They are rich in iron, protein and fiber; providing almost half of the recommended daily fiber intake for adults. Wood Ear Mushrooms are a good source of vitamins B1 and B2.
