Maitake Mushrooms
Maitake Mushrooms have spoon or tongue shaped caps with a milky white stem. Their color varies from pure white – to tan- to brown depending on the exposure of sunlight. When cooked they have an earthy almost spicy, sweet flavor.
Maitake mushrooms are available year-round. Maitake mushrooms are a versatile and may be eaten raw or cooked but are best when roasted, grilled, baked, deep fried sautéed or stir-fried.
They are rich in Vitamin D, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Selenium, Niacin, Folate, Potassium, Zinc and Copper.
